PETROUCHKA, OR THE CHOICE OF HOLUBICHKA
About
Petrouchka, or the choice of Holubichka is a contemporary and sensitive reinterpretation of the famous ballet Petrouchka. Choreographer Émilie Lalande revisits this timeless tale through the character of Holubichka, a doll faced with a choice between two worlds: that of power, consumption, and appearance, embodied by the Moor, and that of nature, poetry, and sensitivity, represented by Petrouchka. In an inventive paper set design inspired by pop-up books, the dance becomes playful, poetic, and deeply evocative. Accessible from a young age, this performance delicately questions our relationship with desires, illusions, and the place each person chooses to occupy in the world.
