A triptych of fire and dreams! For its first major symphonic concert of the season, the Orchestre national Montpellier Occitanie reunites with its musical director Roderick Cox, whose conducting is both precise and incandescent. His rapport with the musicians promises an exceptional evening.

The program plays on extremes. Ravel opens the evening with Ma Mère l’Oye: five fairy tales crafted like precious miniatures, balancing tenderness and mystery. The orchestra showcases an art of timbre of infinite delicacy. Next is Bartók with his Miraculous Mandarin: a dazzling, wild score that explores fascination and violence. The music becomes a pulse, a cry: a shock for the listener. Prokofiev concludes the evening with his Symphony No. 5, written during the height of World War II. Heroic lyricism and relentless mechanics: a victory song wrested from chaos. These three worlds converse and illuminate each other, from dreams to trance, from childhood to history: an evening that promises both storm and grace.
