CARMINA BURANA
About
Add anto.info to your preferred sourcesO Fortuna! Two words, a few notes, and an entire hall holds its breath. Composed in 1937 by Carl Orff on medieval Latin and Middle High German poems, Carmina Burana is one of the most performed choral works in the world.
Celebrating fortune, love, and the pleasures of life, it summons an orchestral and choral energy of extraordinary magnitude. For this production, director Anne Lopez brings a strong visual vision to the stage, enhanced by the lighting of Mathieu Cabanes. Conducting, maestro Roderick Cox leads the Orchestra and Choir of the Opéra Orchestre national Montpellier Occitanie, joined by the young voices of Opéra Junior and the Goyang Festival Choir from South Korea. Two hundred artists on stage, all serving the same score. An event that matches the work: total, collective, unforgettable.
Sung poems from Beuern: Secular songs for solo singers and choirs, with instrumental accompaniment and magical imagery. Scenic cantata (1935–1936) based on texts in Old French, Latin, and Middle High German.
