Paul Körner, a famous violinist, lives his homosexuality in secret. Victim of a blackmailer, he finds himself confronted with paragraph 175 of the German penal code, which criminalizes relationships between men.

Magnus Hirschfeld, also an actor, participates in financing the feature film through his Institute of Sexology. Considered the first film to present a homosexual character with whom the public could identify, it was censored as early as 1920. Copies were destroyed, except for a version found in Ukraine in the 1970s. A major figure in the fight for LGBTQ+ rights, Hirschfeld was forced into exile by the Nazis and died in Nice in 1935.
