Composed from the exceptional film archive of the St Alban hospital, this montage is a musical and dreamlike tribute to the extraordinary asylum experience of this Lozère hospital where, under the watchful eye of Catalan psychiatrist Francesc Tosquelles, "institutional psychiatry" was born.

While the name Frantz Fanon evokes the revolutionary more than the psychiatrist, it is through his practice with patients that he measured the inequalities and injustices wrought by colonialism. Revolutionary methods for the time, involving indigenous patients, previously disregarded, and healthcare staff. His ideals quickly lead him to embrace the cause of the liberation struggle, by sheltering and caring for Algerian fighters. Forced to resign, he continues the fight by joining the FLN in Tunis.
