From September 18 to 28, 2026, the Second Life Design Festival will take over Polygone Montpellier during French Design Week.

Around twenty creators, designers, artists, and artisans will reinvent existing seating to transform them into unique contemporary pieces. A free exhibition that poses a simple question: what if the existing was our most beautiful raw material?

"Giving a second life to an object should not be a compromise. It can become a design gesture."

REINVENT RATHER THAN REPLACE
We produce, we consume, we replace. The Second Life Design Festival proposes a change in perspective: instead of starting from scratch, create from what already exists. For eleven days, the public will discover creations from very different universes: eco-responsible design, illustration, textiles, tufting, painting, sculpture, craftsmanship, and material repurposing.

Each creator starts with an existing piece of seating to imagine a new identity for it. The goal is not simply to restore, but to reinvent: to make reuse a territory of creation, aesthetics, and emotion.

THREE UNIVERSES, ONE COMMON AMBITION
The festival brings together recycling industry professionals, who develop new materials and processes; eco-responsible designers, who rethink objects and their uses; and visual artists, who transform the existing into unique works. A diversity of approaches united around a common ambition: to make reuse desirable and inspiring.

A FREE EXHIBITION IN THE HEART OF MONTPELLIER
Located at Polygone Montpellier, the exhibition is free and open to all generations. The public will be able to discover the creations and vote for their favorite piece. The Public Second Chance Prize will be awarded on the last day of the exhibition. Organized as part of French Design Week, the festival highlights the talents, skills, and initiatives that are building a more circular and creative future.
