The almost enclosed intercontinental sea, the Mediterranean Sea includes countries from Southern Europe such as Spain, France, Italy, Greece, and Malta, North African countries like Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, and Egypt, as well as Near Eastern countries such as Turkey, Syria, Lebanon, Israel, and Palestine.

Music is an essential element of life in the Mediterranean cultures, reflecting the cultural richness and diversity of traditions.

The arrival of the Arabs in the Iberian Peninsula in the 8th century brought with it a rich musical heritage that has greatly influenced Mediterranean music. The fusion of Arabic music and traditional Spanish music led to a unique form of musical expression known as Andalusian music, which remains an integral part of the region's musical heritage.
