In 1950s London, just after the war, renowned fashion designer Reynolds Woodcock and his sister Cyril dominate the world of English fashion. Women come and go in the life of this famous yet hardened bachelor, serving as both muses and companions until the day the young and determined Alma surpasses them all to take a central place. Newland Archer quickly surrounds Ellen with his advice and guides her through the aristocratic jungle of propriety and gossip. Offering a scathing portrait of 19th-century aristocracy, Martin Scorsese delivers a sumptuous adaptation of Edith Wharton's novel, a feminist author ahead of her time. A must-see on the big screen.
