Fernando Costa: The Field of Metal, memory transformed into sculpture

With "The Field of Metal," the Parcelle473 museum dedicates an exhibition to Fernando Costa, a self-taught sculptor whose work explores the resistance and transformation of metallic material.

For this project, the artist relies on a material rich in history: fragments of old agricultural tractors that have been salvaged and repurposed from their original function to become sculptures and pictorial surfaces.

"Bent, assembled, put under tension, these mechanical elements marked by use and time become the components of powerful works where industrial strength meets rural memory," he continues.

Some pieces take the form of monumental sculptures, while others resemble true metal paintings where the fragments compose a new visual writing.

"This exhibition resonates particularly with the history of the museum," emphasizes Laurent Rigail. Once a wine estate, Parcelle473 carries within it the memory of a territory shaped by agricultural work.

By transforming mechanical remnants linked to the land, Fernando Costa creates a dialogue between rural heritage and contemporary creation.
