FROM 27 JULY TO 24 AUGUST
Departmental Philatelic Exhibition Philextarn 2026 "On the Paths of St. James"
About
The philatelic associations of the department will gather for the European Heritage Days in the conference room of the town hall to present several exhibitions on the theme "On the Paths of St. James".
This route from Conques to Toulouse, passing through Gaillac and Rabastens, has been traveled since the Middle Ages by many pilgrims and walkers.
A chapel, La Capelette, as well as a St. James Hospital welcomed the numerous pilgrims. Before embarking on this long journey, as the regions crossed were not very safe, the pilgrims would put their souls and also their worldly goods in order: they would make their will in Cordes, taking advantage of the quality and quantity of lawyers that the city prided itself on.
A visit to the main Jacquaire sites in Cordes will be organized on Sunday afternoon by the Friends of Old Cordes association, with the visit departing at 2:30 PM.
The Grand Fauconnier committee will be associated with these two days through an exhibition of pilgrim costumes.
The exhibition will be open on Saturday from 10 AM to 5 PM and on Sunday from 9 AM to 5 PM.
A postage stamp will be issued on this occasion, representing the stained glass of La Capelette restored by Yves Brayer.
This event is proposed as part of the departmental cultural meetings: "Traveling. In 2026, culture walks through Tarn."
Admission: Free.
