A Glimpse into Mauzan's World
About
Through numerous collaborations with merchants from his home region, he also shaped the high-Alpine regional imagination by bringing to life, on labels, posters, and brochures, characters that are much more than mere stereotypes of Alpine folklore. A companion of the departmental museum, he presented his first work in 1911 and initiated the Mauzan fund. Over the years, the collection has grown with contributions from the artist and, after his death in 1952, from his family, who are fully committed to promoting his work.
The exhibition reveals engravings, postcards, and unpublished drawings alongside works from the fund. It unveils the behind-the-scenes of artistic production: medals from the School of Fine Arts, agendas and notebooks, sketches and zinc plates... all of which are keys to understanding Mauzan's vibrant creative universe.
