CONFERENCE #3: PIERRE-AUGUSTE RENOIR
About
The conference will present the life and work of Pierre-Auguste Renoir, "painter of happiness".
It will highlight his extraordinary production of paintings, drawings, and watercolors, as well as his struggles and doubts that led him, on several occasions, to change his style.
A comrade-in-arms of other young painters, he participated with them in the creation of what would soon be called Impressionism.
But Renoir, dissatisfied, sought, until the end of his life, to find a new form of art that would allow him to express his personal vision of the world made of light and warmth, conveyed with a wholly sensual touch.
By Odile Gancédo, art historian.
