Theme: "Refugees, Exiles, Displaced Persons, Political Detainees in Colonial Algeria"

The French deemed "excited" and therefore dangerous or poor and potentially delinquent, along with foreigners exiled in France for political reasons, all participated in the civil colonization process of Algeria from the very beginning of the conquest.
Often considered a financial burden for the latter and a source of public order disturbances for the former, they were, depending on the cases and historical moments, exiled, displaced, or outright deported, even interned upon their arrival.
