Wealthy bourgeois, Monsieur Jourdain wakes up one morning with the absolute conviction that he was born to be a gentleman. Without hesitation, he orders embroidered clothes, dance masters, music teachers, philosophers, and fencing instructors.

Everyone flatters him, everyone takes advantage of him. And he, radiant, repeating endlessly that he has the wit of four, goes from one lesson to another in a cascade. Music and dance transform him into a clumsy peacock who believes he is a swan.

Donning the shimmering costume of this man trapped in a frantic quest for recognition, Jean-Paul Rouve leaps, blushes, indignantly reacts, and exclaims with delight. He inflates his voice, squints his eyes, and waves his arms as if conducting an invisible orchestra. Each of his lines snaps, and each of his silences brings laughter.
