About

This guided walk, starting from Yvoire and following the green path along the shores of Lake Geneva, will lead to the Domaine de Rovorée-la Châtaignière. This 24-hectare site is home to an ancient forest with centuries-old chestnut trees, lakeside banks with tufa caves, medieval remains, and offers a splendid panorama of Lake Geneva. It also showcases a very rich biodiversity. The management of this site must therefore address various challenges. Throughout the journey, the following themes will be discussed:
• the history of the village of Yvoire and its human occupation (from the 14th to the 21st century);
• medieval architecture and that of the contemporary period (manor house);
• the formation of landscapes and the use of local resources: connections with geology;
• the management of the site, classified as a Sensitive Natural Area: issues (concerning fauna, flora, meadows, forest, fishing, site attendance, mobility...) and potential solutions.
Depending on the season (April-September), the return can be made by solar-powered boat (at an additional cost).

Rates: Group rate for children: €150 (per guide).

1 guide for 15 students.
