EXHIBITION "MEDITERRANEAN BANQUETS BETWEEN GREEKS, ETRUSCANS, AND GAULS"

The new exhibition "Mediterranean Banquets Between Greeks, Etruscans, and Gauls" will be presented from June 5, 2026, to February 1, 2027, at the Lattara archaeological site - Henri Prades museum in Montpellier Méditerranée Métropole.

The exhibition is based on research conducted as part of the GEPRICO project: Gaulish, Etruscan, and Phocaean commensality rites (funded by the National Research Agency). It focuses on commensality rites from the early 6th to the late 4th century BC, with a cross-cultural comparative approach concerning both the material evidence uncovered by archaeology (organic remains of plant and animal meals, ceramic artifacts) and the immaterial evidence (new data provided by biochemical analyses and palynological studies of contents). The realm of the immaterial in archaeology encompasses the scents and flavors, the materials and biological products used during the commensality ritual, which are archaeologically invisible to the naked eye.
