Open House - The Workshops of the Possible

Kristine Stattin is a contemporary art embroiderer originally from Sweden, now based in Tarn, Castres. She primarily practices free-motion embroidery on a sewing machine as well as hand embroidery, complemented by appliqué, textile printing, and needle felting on wool.
In her recent works, she explores abstraction through an intuitive approach, where the threads play a crucial role in the construction of the piece. Inspired by nature, flora, and organic shapes, she seeks to convey emotions through the interplay of colors, lines, textures, forms, and movement. The sewing machine thus becomes her brush, while the threads constitute her pictorial material.

Flore Loireau develops a sculptural and ceramic practice focused on creating volumes. The clay offers her a space for free and open expression, nourished by her observation of nature, which she gradually translates into abstract forms.
This exploration also manifests in functional pieces, such as vases and everyday objects made of cast porcelain, on which she paints abstract landscapes in constant renewal.
She primarily works with heavily grogged stoneware, fired at high temperatures in an oxidizing atmosphere. The textures are achieved using ash glazes that she develops herself, while the decorations are made with porcelain slips.

Katia Villard, a graduate in Fine Arts from the University of Provence in Aix-en-Provence, has been exploring human nature through the lens of emotions since the 2000s. Initially focused on painting, her practice has gradually diversified throughout her artistic and personal journey.
She now primarily works with pencil and graphite powder on Arches Satiné paper, engaging in a patient black-and-white process enriched with fine layers of oil glazes. This dialogue between line and depth creates effects reminiscent of engraving, sometimes inspired by old photographs.
While the human figure remains subtly present, nature and scenes of life now occupy a central place in her universe, inviting contemplation and emotion. The house, a recurring motif, evokes intimacy, memory, shelter, and the need for grounding. Her work thus offers a sensitive reflection on the inner world and our relationship with the surrounding world.
