Taste Festival

At the Foyer du Ségala, taste is celebrated through science, local produce, and agriculture.

Saint-Martin-Laguépie – On Sunday, October 4th, the Foyer du Ségala will open its doors wide for a day dedicated to quality food for all. A taste festival that will bring together producers, scientists, chefs, and locals around a common question: how can we eat better together while highlighting the riches of our territory?

There are days when you come to discover… and leave with new ideas, a few recipes, and, above all, the desire to better understand what’s on your plate. The Taste Festival at the Foyer du Ségala will be one of those days.

On Sunday, October 4th, from 9:30 AM to 5 PM, the Foyer du Ségala will host a particularly rich program, at the intersection of two events: the Science Festival and "Let’s Taste Our Countryside," dedicated to discovering local agriculture and food.

When science meets the pleasure of eating.

The Science Festival will add an original dimension to this day. Chef Jean-Luc Denonain will offer sensory cooking workshops at 11 AM and 4 PM, open to everyone aged 8 and up.

An opportunity to explore food differently: observe, smell, taste, compare… and understand that our five senses are also wonderful tools for grasping what we eat.

Just a few steps away, the Tiers-Lieu du Ségala will host four conferences to take a step back on our food and the issues surrounding it. On the agenda: "Microbiome and One Health" with Anaïs Gay at 10 AM, "Healthy Soils for Healthy Products" with Alice Massacrier at 11:30 AM, "Bread and Health" with Christian Rémézy at 2 PM, and then "Social Security of Food" with Arnaud Lebrun at 3:30 PM.

Let’s Taste Our Countryside, to rediscover the taste of the territory.

The other theme of the day will be resolutely local. A market of local producers will allow visitors to meet those who sustain the territory's agriculture and discover products that tell, in their own way, the story and know-how of Ségala.

The Community of Communes of Cordais and Causse (4C) will also present its "Guide to Local Food," a tool to better identify the food resources of the territory and encourage local circuits.

Because behind the idea of quality food, there is also a deeply heritage dimension: preserving the land, supporting producers, passing on know-how, and maintaining a vibrant food culture. Eating local is not just a matter of consumption, but also a way to keep a territory alive.

A festival that is above all friendly.

And because taste is best shared around a table, catering will be offered on-site. Enough to extend the discoveries and make this day a true moment of encounter.

At the Foyer du Ségala, this festival aims to bring together generations and knowledge, without opposing pleasure and reflection. A day to learn, taste, exchange, and rediscover that food quality can also be a matter of territory, transmission, and conviviality.
