On the occasion of the European Heritage Days, the Compagnons de Maguelone are launching two exhibitions dedicated to the artist Guy de Montlaur:
• a first exhibition presented over four days, from September 18 to 21, 2026,
• and a second, from September 18 to June 30, 2027 in the park.

Montlaur at Maguelone: a work between abstraction, history, and spirituality
From September 18 to 21, 2026, the Compagnons de Maguelone invite you to discover Guy de Montlaur (1918-1977), a unique figure in French abstract painting.

In the Cathedral of Maguelone, the Tribune des Chanoines hosts a selection of 20 original works, presented exceptionally for the European Heritage Days. Mediators will be present to engage with visitors and accompany the discovery of the works.

In the park of the Cathedral, starting from September 18, a path of reproductions allows you to explore different periods of Guy de Montlaur's work, through a stroll between art, landscape, and heritage. This path will be accessible until June 2027.
Born in 1918, Guy de Montlaur was profoundly influenced by war, poetry, music, and faith. His artistic journey evolved from cubism to geometric abstraction, then to abstract expressionism and lyrical abstraction.

This exhibition holds particular resonance in Maguelone: the Montlaur family is part of the history of the Cathedral, notably with Jean I and Jean II de Montlaur, bishops of Maguelone. Jean I, bishop from 1158 to 1190, notably completed the construction of the Cathedral.

Two paths to discover the artist and his universe, and to create a dialogue between artistic creation, history, and heritage.
