Cultural Programming of the Museum: Memories of Families, 50 Names That Marked Salles

MUSEUM OF VAL DE L'EYRE | HTBA | COUNCIL OF SAGES

Our family names emerged in the 11th and 12th centuries. They were formed from nicknames, surnames, and other Gascon terms, then evolved over the centuries to be finally fixed at the end of the 19th century with the issuance of a family booklet to newlyweds. But where do these names come from? Are they an ancient baptismal name that has persisted to this day? Come discover with us the origins of these Salles names that have shaped history! Led by Aimé Nouailhas from HTBA.
