MUSIC AND ORGAN FESTIVAL: ALL'IMPROVVISO
About
The Jean-Pierre Cavaillé association presents its 51st edition of the Music and Organ Festival: a series of concerts featuring seasoned musicians and a varied repertoire within the Saint-Julien and Sainte-Baselisse church.
"All'improvviso! Baroque Trio".
At the heart of musical practice, ornamentation and improvisation experienced a true golden age at the end of the Renaissance and during the Baroque period. Whether on well-known themes, famous songs or madrigals, on dances and obstinate bass lines, or in instrumental compositions, music is always subject to embellishment and adornment. Singers and instrumentalists left numerous writings to fix and transmit their art: as evidenced by the collections published in Italy, notably those of Diego Ortiz, Giovanni Bassano, Girolamo Della Casa; and the didactic sonatas of the 18th century, among which those of Arcangelo Corelli and Georg Philipp Telemann are the most famous. Our program attempts to provide an overview of these musical idioms.
