About

Pierre Auguste Renoir, the painter who loved women.

Renoir was born in 1842 into a modest artisan family that settled in Paris. In 1860, he joined the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, where he met Claude Monet, Alfred Sisley, and Frédéric Bazille. Together, they abandoned academic work to paint outdoors and even shared a studio. Their exchanges inspired Renoir, who became particularly focused on capturing the effects of light with pure colors and layered brushstrokes. This period gave birth to the Impressionist movement, which would unite an entire generation. In his paintings such as "Le bal du Moulin de la Galette," "La Grenouillère," and "Le déjeuner des canotiers," he depicts the vibrant life of his time. However, faced with public misunderstanding, he distanced himself from the movement. In search of the absolute, Renoir painted women until the end of his life.
