About

Discovered in 1967 at the foot of the tower of the Antibes Cathedral, an enigmatic stone bearing the imprint of a rouelle still intrigues today. With no known parallel, it was immediately identified as a foundry mold. While its precise function remains debated, recent research suggests it was used for the production of fibulae (brooches) in the shape of a wheel, serving both as clothing accessories and decorative objects.

Displayed alongside fibulae, this exceptional piece invites you to explore the metallurgical techniques in use during the Roman era.
