About

1958, in Nœux-les-Mines, the North exhales its black dust. Sosthène, an ex-miner plagued by silicosis, treats himself to a black-and-white television to watch Raymond Kopa shine at the World Cup.

Meanwhile, his son Pierre and his friend Vlad share the dangers of the galleries, the breeding of racing pigeons, and accordion rehearsals in Sosthène's orchestra. But the arrival of Leila, a fiery young accordionist, is about to change everything.

With this work, J-Philippe Daguerre accurately examines the struggles of workers, the condition of women, and the solidarity that withstands adversity, all this raw and tender humanity that touches the heart.

With its five Molières in 2025 – best private theater show, author, director, supporting role, and female revelation – this coal, which seeps into the veins, never truly fades away, bringing forth the light from the gray of lives, offering us the rare opportunity to discover another humanity.

Our imagination gallops, chokes when the throat tightens, and a flurry of lines triggers genuine laughter. A truly great moment of theater!

For ages 11 and up.
