Mr. Klein: Alain Delon in a Disturbing Thriller at the Filmoteca de Catalunya

On October 22 and 24, 2026, the Filmoteca de Catalunya will host two screenings of Mr. Klein, a masterpiece of cinema by Joseph Losey, featuring Alain Delon, Jeanne Moreau, and Michel Lonsdale.

Released in 1976, this historical and psychological drama immerses viewers in Occupied Paris, at the heart of a troubling story where identity, persecution, and collective indifference intertwine.

A Stolen Identity, A Disrupted Existence

Paris, during the Nazi Occupation. Robert Klein, a prosperous art dealer, takes advantage of the desperate situation of persecuted Jews to acquire their works at low prices.
His life takes a turn when he discovers that another man, a Jew, shares his exact name.
This strange coincidence leads him into an obsessive search that gradually transforms his life into a true labyrinth.
Through this narrative, Joseph Losey explores the mechanisms of indifference, silent complicity, and persecution, set against a backdrop of increasing psychological tension.

A Great Classic to Rediscover on Film

Driven by Alain Delon's performance, Mr. Klein offers a cinematic experience that is as fascinating as it is unsettling.
Joseph Losey's direction plays with spaces, corridors, and perspectives to convey the gradual entrapment of his character.
The Filmoteca de Catalunya presents the film in 35 mm, in its original version with Spanish subtitles, as part of the program "Àlex Brendemühl | Els passos dobles".
