Ibrahim Maalouf — The Trumpets of Michel-Ange Vol. 2

For his first appearance at the Jazz Barcelona Festival, Ibrahim Maalouf presents the second volume of The Trumpets of Michel-Ange (T.O.M.A).
The project engages in a dialogue between folklore and modernity in a sophisticated yet accessible music, influenced particularly by a festive and nostalgic Orient.
T.O.M.A also refers to the trumpet designed by Ibrahim Maalouf and its musical history. Born in Lebanon and raised in France, the musician continues the legacy of his father, a trumpeter and inventor of a microtonal trumpet that allows for playing quarter tones.
On stage, Ibrahim Maalouf handles the trumpet and musical direction. The announced experience goes beyond a simple recital: the Jazz Barcelona Festival presents the show as a collective, joyful, and energetic celebration, centered around the meeting of Eastern sounds, jazz, and contemporary language.
