Between 4 Walls is a photographic series that pushes introspection to its architectural and spatial paroxysm. Through a radical zoom-out, photographer and visual artist Florian Sanna, aka Abuz One, encloses a character within 1:100 scale models representing the Institute.

Here, it is no longer the open society that oppresses, but the closed space itself: the structure, the walls, the architecture that gradually constrain the body and the mind.

Entirely handmade from cardboard, without the use of artificial intelligence, the model becomes the setting for a miniature closed room. Photographed in focus stacking, it reveals absolute sharpness and an almost monumental physical presence, paradoxically unsettling given its scale.

The lines are straight, the angles strict, the volumes stripped down. Yet, even at the bottom of these closed boxes, a resistance takes shape. The character is not simply subjected to the frame: they inhabit it, measure it, test it, and seek its flaws.

Through Between 4 Walls, Florian Sanna stages the intimate struggle of the individual against the limits that institutions, the work system, society — or ourselves — erect around our existences.

Claustrophobic, yet strangely redemptive, this journey into the heart of confinement brings forth an essential conviction: walls can contain bodies, but they cannot imprison minds.
