After China, the Indian World is celebrated at the Fabre Museum, in the heart of the Cabrières-Sabatier d’Espeyran mansion, thanks to a selection of masterpieces obtained through the partnership with the Guimet Museum.
Prestige, beauty, the sacred, transgression… Through these four major themes, visitors are invited to discover significant works of Asian arts, spanning nearly 2,000 years and originating from all the regions that make up the Indian world.
In echo and to illustrate the southern relations with Asia, the personality of Louis Médard is highlighted, a great bibliophile collector of the 19th century, who contributed to the dissemination and success of Indiennes in the South, lightweight cotton fabrics with very colorful patterns. This territorial anchoring is supported by loans from the Hérault departmental archives.
