We welcomed Flocon Volcan for a creative residency at the start of the 2024 school year, so the desire and excitement to discover the finished work greatly piqued our curiosity. Camille Maussion and her saxophones bring together four other well-recognized musicians, exceptional improvisers. With them, the instrumentation could evoke fears of a chaotic mishmash if, precisely, all of this did not pass through a seasoned ensemble and a conductor who molds all this organic, electronic, vocal, and poetic material into a storyteller. Quirky rhythmic loops, elastic cubist songs, deconstructed rhythms, manipulated classics, and modern lyricism, with Mother Nature as an inspiring muse when the snow falls on the lava.
