Guided Tour: History of the Saint-Michel Chapel in Arudy - European Heritage Days

The Saint-Michel hill, an exceptional site! Nestled in a green setting, the Saint-Michel chapel occupies a
remarkable location on the eponymous hill, above the cave and below the calvary with three crosses, which offers a 360° view.
In the 1970s, local painter Pierre Martinez created a mural there in honor of Saint Michael. It evokes the various industries of Arudy, provides a perspective on the heart of the town, and also includes a self-portrait of the artist. Volunteers from the Pyrène l’Ossaloise association invite you to a guided tour of the chapel and the cave. Since 2019, they have been working to raise awareness of the site's history, ensure its protection and maintenance, and contribute to its vitality.
