FIRE OF SAINT JOHN
TUESDAY, JUNE 23 - 9:00 PM Place de la République
Folkloric Dances with the Terra del Sol group:
The Maribel Company is an ensemble of traditional music, song, and dance that has been around for over forty years. All members come from the traditional music and dance classes at the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional Perpignan-Méditerranée-Métropôle (CRR).
The Company is led by Marie-Isabelle Bagnouls Gimard. Specializing in the folklore and traditions of the Catalan-Aragonese countries, it is now expanding its repertoire, from the poets of freedom such as Antonio Machado and Federico Garcia Lorca to South America...
The "Falcons" of Barcelona:
The Falcons of Barcelona were officially presented for the Santa Eulàlia festivities in 2003, specifically on February 15, sponsored by the Falcons of Vilafranca, Vilanova Falcons, and Piera Falcons. At that time, there were only six Falcon groups in Catalonia, and those from Barcelona became the seventh.
They have performed throughout Catalonia as well as in Poland. Their performances have been very diverse: Major Festivals, congresses, Sant Jordi and Catalonia Days, the Mulla't campaign for multiple sclerosis, cultural weeks in schools, social foundations... And they have not always acted alone; they have often collaborated with other cultural entities.
The arrival of the flame from Canigó and the lighting of the cauldron will conclude this evening:
The Gegants d’Elna will accompany the flame from Canigó through the streets of the historic district with music. The "Cornagrallers," a group of traditional musicians from Elne, will accompany the arrival of the flame.
