FROM 9 TO 13 SEPTEMBER
Artistic Screen Printing Workshop
About
This workshop is led by Mayeul Irlinger, a painter and art screen printer, trained in screen printing in a professional setting. His journey has led him to collaborate with artists, illustrators, and graphic designers, developing a deep understanding of printing processes, inks, and substrates. Nourished early on by the practice of screen printing, he now explores this technique as a fully-fledged pictorial tool, blending overlays, reserves, layers, and withdrawals to create images marked by gesture and experimentation.
The workshop takes place over four days and offers a progression that is both technical and creative. The initial sessions are dedicated to discovering screen printing: understanding how the screen works, the tools, the inks, and the principles of printing through demonstrations and initial prints using stencils. Participants then tackle manual masking, using masks and reserves to create sharp shapes and work on layering colored layers.
The final days are devoted to a more free and in-depth practice, combining different techniques and integrating monotype. Participants experiment with direct painting on the screen before printing, in order to produce unique prints rich in nuances and textures. Throughout the workshop, the emphasis is on autonomy, personal research, and exploring the pictorial possibilities of screen printing.
