1915. War is an unknown land where Justin, a miserable peasant, is sent at a time when he must tend to his fields. He must go fight, in the name of a law he does not understand, against an enemy he has never seen, while he dreams only of staying on his farm. His encounter with Basile, a Senegalese rifleman, will open his eyes to this war he does not comprehend. It is with him that he will rebel against the injustices of an absurd command and become a hero unlike any other.
