The Gérard Philipe Theatre opens the doors to its 26th season with a festive evening, free and open to all, reflecting its identity: a community theatre, committed to supporting contemporary creation and deeply rooted in the life of the Figuerolles–Arceaux neighborhood. This new season is themed "Quest for Self, Quest for Elsewhere", a common thread running through a rich program of shows, concerts, creation residencies, artist meetings, and participatory projects.

On the agenda for the launch evening:

  • From 6:30 PM (courtyard of the Maison pour tous): concert by The Girlz
The Girlz brings together Montpellier musicians Evlyn Andria (KUnzit, Laiine, Soava, Andria4Tet), Caroline Lavina (Les Steadies, Marla and the cool chicken), Léna Noury Mazel (Nelia Sand, Jazz for Sale), and Émilie Ayer (Trio Artefact, Trio Sunny Side, Soultrain) around the greatest hits of international variety.
Energetic and imbued with the good humor characteristic of its repertoire, this quartet of multi-instrumentalist musicians will ensure you have a festive and friendly moment with the exhilarating riffs and choruses of funk, pop, and soul music from the 80s to today.
    All audiences / Reservation required

  • At 7 PM (in the Comédie room): The Clown Exposed, exhibition by the Atout Clowns association
Posters, videos, photos, texts, drawings, conversations… Atout Clowns offers you an exhibition on Clown Art. Because while everyone has an idea of "what a clown is", what is it really today?
Come visit the famous Augustes and the evolution of the "character" Clown to discover what makes it a being in its own right. We will present our passion for this "character" that comes from within us and is essential for its freedom and truth in our society.
    Followed by On Stage!, improvisations
Improvisation proposals featuring clowns from the Atout Clowns Association.
    All audiences / Reservation required

  • At 9 PM (at the theatre): Boxer, theatre by the Pequod Compagnia
Boxer tells the story of two boxers who, after fighting in the ring, find themselves fighting in the war. We are in the years of fascism and Nazism; World War II is at our doorstep. Eugenio is an Italian fleeing fascism, Victor a Tunisian fleeing misery. One a socialist worker, the other Jewish. Their destinies will unite in a boxing match scheduled in Paris and postponed due to the outbreak of war. But Eugenio and Victor are two athletes; they just want to box and achieve a better life. Exactly what the war forbids them. Their personal struggle transforms into a collective revolution: Eugenio becomes the worker-boxer fighting for all exploited workers like him. Victor, the symbol of one who does not bow down even before Nazi-fascism.
    Teens, adults / Reservation required

We look forward to seeing many of you!
