The Japan Matsuri festival celebrates its 15th edition at the Parc des Expositions in Montpellier on September 26 and 27, 2026.

An unmissable event of the cultural rentrée, the Japan Matsuri festival returns for its 15th edition on September 26 and 27, 2026, at the Parc des Expositions in Montpellier. Whether coming with family, solo, or with friends, the festival is for all ages and audiences: the goal is to share a friendly moment together and have a great day.

Japan Matsuri bridges this timeless cultural heritage with modern pop culture (video games, K-pop, cosplay, stages, and concerts), recreating for a weekend at the Parc des Expositions in Montpellier the energy and popularity of major Japanese gatherings.

A grand journey between tradition and pop culture
The festival offers a wide range of activities and discoveries through its various spaces:

• Free traditional workshops: Visitors can learn about kitsuke and kimono wearing, participate in origami and furoshiki workshops.
• Exhibitions: An exhibition of traditional cultures highlighting samurai (armor) and kimonos.
• Stage and Pop Culture: Various shows and activities including K-pop, author signings, karaoke, as well as cosplay contests and free parades (for adults and children), video games, arcade machines, manga drawing...
• Martial Arts Space with initiations and demonstrations.
• Relaxation Areas: An exhibition space bringing together young creators and professionals, a food area with savory and sweet options will also be available, along with many other activities and surprises to discover on-site.

Access hours: Pre-sale ticket holders benefit from access starting at 9:00 AM to make the most of the event. On-site ticket sales will open at 10:00 AM.

A dedicated access for people with reduced mobility is in place. Additionally, entry is free for the companion of a person with a disability upon presentation of the CMI card.
