Film Debate "In the Name of Law and Order, Step Back!"

As part of the Hors les murs of the Échos d’Ici, Échos d’Ailleurs documentary film festival, screening of the documentary In the Name of Law and Order, Step Back!, directed by journalist Paul Moreira.

Through footage of protests in France, the United States, and various regions around the world, the film examines the evolution of law enforcement practices and the increasing power of police forces that are ever more equipped and militarized. From the mobilizations of the "Yellow Vests" to the protests organized after the death of George Floyd, Paul Moreira gives voice to protesters, specialists, and former law enforcement officials.

The documentary also questions the role of images and social media in these confrontations, as protesters and law enforcement find themselves at the heart of a true war of images.

The screening will be followed by a discussion and debate with the audience, in partnership with Amnesty International Tarn Sud.
